Blog Reconstruction!

Happy New Year!

Many things have happened. And there's so much to share. I must gather my thoughts! But first, I'm trying to fix this blog. I made a move from WordPress to Blogger and it's a pain! I've gotten so used to WordPress and Blogger is just a whole new learning curve. But at least CSS customization is free! Plus the domain mapping is free!

Anyways, this site is under construction!

Hello Fido

So a few days ago, I hung out with my brother, Ivan, after his work and before my work. Confused? No? Good. Went to Eaton Centre. We just talked, catch up, went to Canadian Tire since my brother wanted to get a handheld vacuum. We met an a-hole employee who was very good at being a complete D-bag. Long story short, he was unhelpful and seem to really hate his job and life for that matter. Anyways, we didn't buy a vacuum. Price wasn't right.

We went to Fido and checked out if they have a good deal or better plan than what I currently have. Since I had gotten the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE smartphone, my old Blackberry plan which had 500MB wasn't cutting it anymore. It was an OK plan from years ago, but a Fido rep, Daniel, offered me a plan with plenty of unlimited and 2GB of data for slightly cheaper price than my current Rogers bill. I wanted it. Best of all there was no contract!!! I called Rogers to tell them I was switching to Fido even if I have a year of contract left with them. They offered me a similar plan but with ***6 GB*** of data. I was like... YEAH! GIMME THAT! Then just before he was about to sign me up, the Rogers rep (Harj) said that it's on a 3 year contract. I'm like, "Oh thanks for telling me. I don't want it. Next time say it earlier." *hung up* So I decided to leave Rogers/Robbers for Fido. Unfortunately my phone wasn't unlocked and I was running out of time. Work soon and I was hungry. I wasn't able to switch that night.

Anyways, time for food. First time I've been in the new food court at Eaton Centre, which they call Urban Eatery, if I recall correctly. It was huge. And the men's washroom was very neat. By neat, I mean fancy. We both ate some A&W Uncle burgers since it was the deal. Afterwards, we took the train home and part ways. I went straight to work.

After I get home from work, I was really determined to switch to Fido. I did some research on what site provides a legitimate unlocking service for a fair price. I have decided on www.cellunlock.net and was very happy. $16.99 for a hassle free phone unlocking. There's others that has cheaper pricing but with a bit more research reveals they are very unreliable. And may even be a scam. So I ordered a code, and slept. Woke up and my unlock code was sent in my email.

This was the day me and my roommate, Maira, was gonna see the movie, "Secret world of Arrietty." After the movie we just walked around a bit at Eaton Centre and I took the opportunity to go to Fido since my unlock code was with me and I really wanted the plan offered to me. So, the Fido rep gave me a new SIM card and I unlocked my phone. Switched to Fido! Lots of data, no contract, plenty of unlimiteds that I don't feel like listing. It was just a way better plan than Rogers could ever offer. Good riddance Rogers. I would've stayed with you guys if you didn't plan to put me in another contract with your desperate offered plan.

I am a happy person in terms of my phone plan. ^_^

Most fun day off

Sunday. Normally a tiring and very depressing and boring and all things sadness day. Which also happens to be my only day off. Sometimes, I just wanted to kick myself. Or bang my head on the wall. But that last part is an over exaggeration. Note that it has gone a LOT better now. Perhaps a story for another blog post?

After church, which had a pretty complicated message, just went home after stopping by to pick up some stuff from groceries. My roommate, Maira, had already planned out Sunday and was bringing her boyfriend, Gary, to our place and play some board and/or card games, as well as for me to meet get to know him. Good guy, nice guy, great guy. That's coming from a straight dude, so that's saying something. First we played some Uno card game. Me and Maira never played it but Gary explained. We played for points; three sets of games. Gary won three times, I came in second three times and Maira lost all three sets, lol. Had a lot of fun and laughs.

Next we played Monopoly board game. Fun, giggles, disappointments, laughs, cackles, shocks, screams, disbelief, (insert more). That's basically what happened. In short, Maira obliterated us since she got both the blue properties, Park Place and Boardwalk. And me and Gary were lucky enough to land on them. Good game.

Overall, the fun and games lasted about 7 hours straight. Haven't had that much fun on my day off in a long time. Except for that 2011 Christmas Day. Even if I didn't get any sleep, it was fun. Other than those 2 days, my day offs are extremely tiring and bland and boring and lifeless. Again, it's getting better since my work shift adjustment on Saturday nights.

Thanks, Maira, for a great time and for planning that day. *thumbs up* Even though, me having fun wasn't really the main focus of that "event". Really had a great time. Thanks to Gary for sticking to his word and coming over this time (he failed to, last time,) bringing the entertainment and for being a great guy (no homo).

m(_ _)m 。。。

Secret World of Arrietty

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp2nb9Vq0yY

Saw this! Great movie. Loved it! ヾ(´□`* )ノ Great visuals. I liked the story. There are some slow parts, mainly in the beginning. Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki have never ever disappointed me. I doubt they ever will.

My only tiny rant is... it felt short! Wanted more... (´・_・`)

Ah well!

Busy busy busy

Busy? Or procrastinating? NO! Definitely busy. Although, I have to admit, there is a teeny-bit of procrastination inserted somewhere.

Anyways. I'm trying to be more of an active blogger but it's so hard to-- to what? It's not hard! It's easy. You just do it. So what's keeping me from doing it? Darn! Lazy... But I'm not lazy... just that, it's not that important so I kind of just shrug it off.

Today, I got up and grabbed my flashlight and pointed it under my bed because I've been paranoid these past week. One day, I got home and noticed something. Giant red ants with wings! On some parts of my baseboards near my bed. Nasty! I vacuumed them up. Since then, I always look under my bed and the places where I found them. So back to the present. Again, I got up and grabbed my flashlight and looked around. Nothing. Normal. Played with my phone for a few minutes and sat on my bed. FEW MINUTES! I got up again and there's like 20 of them buggers next to my bed!!! I'm convinced there's a hole in there and their nest is just nearby. CREEPY!

Grabbed the vacuum and got rid of them pests. Was afraid they'll start multiplying inside the vacuum bag. I left for the grocery store and bought some baby powder. Apparently, they don't like baby powder/talc and suffocates them. Did some research. Vacuumed some baby powder for the ants in there. Then I sprinkled some on the spot where I believe is the entry point. So my room now smells like baby powder.

So that's my rant. I hope I never ever see them in my room again. Ugh!

Yup...

Seriously. I have NOT forgotten about my blog. I visit it everyday because it's my homepage when I turn on my laptop or desktop. But I never know what to write. Actually, there's too much to write except I get hit by the lazy spirit and everything go wah wah.

Sigh.

New Home, New Phone - GET!

Whew! I haven't posted here in a long time. Nothing much going on anyway... Well aside from finding a new place!!!

Yep! After days and weeks of sleep deprivity trying to find and checking out potential places. I've finally found one. Very spacious. Bigger than my previous room in my old apartment. I love it! Have nice and cool roommates too but I don't see them much since my schedule is a little odd.

Enough of that. I have finally stepped away from BlackBerry and into the Android world. Ditched my Torch 9800 for the new Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket LTE. Whew! Long name! Bought it the first day it came out from Rogers. A little pricey though but well worth it.

I have endured getting tortured from that slow fail BB Torch for over a year and now I'm free! It was just awful for my needs. I'm sure some like the phone and its more than enough for THEIR needs. But for me, I need something faster and iPhone was not an option. Not a fan of apple. So hello Android! 100x happier now. I feel complete.

Anyways... That's all for now. Til next post... Whenever that is.....

Searching for apartment. MAJOR PAIN!

Okay, maybe it really isn't but what makes it hard for me is that I have specific "needs" for a cheap place.

  • Date availability. Most are available immediately and asking them to delay it for me for a couple of months is... unreal lol.

  • Unfurnished. I have this single bed that goes a long way with me. Very comfortable and I like it. Plus it's raised high enough to store things under the bed. I also have a futon. Like a month old. A table that goes well with my gaming system. A bulky computer chair which I don't like much... it's huge. A couple of dressers. And some small folding tables.

  • Nice landlord and clean place. A flooding basement or bug infested place is a no-no!

  • Nice tenants or roommates (if it's shared). Messy people are a turn off and you're just obliged to clean after them just because you like things clean. Also, no parties! No annoyance! AGH! I respect you and your belongings and your privacy, do the same please?

  • Finally... price is just right. Or if it's a bit high then it should include things like internet.

I also have some appliances like water cooler and microwave but I don't really need them unless I find a bachelor apt/basement.

Yeah, I know there's still time but it's nice to find that right place soon than going insane because your time is nearly up. Gives you a sense of peace of mind.

Back to searching.....

Nothing new here...

So I haven't touched RIFT in a long time. Just been really busy or just relaxing. I actually already cancelled my subscription weeks ago because I won't have time for it. No more raid healing and being top healer. See, funny part about that is, whatever I do, I show extreme dedication and I am extremely dedicated to doing it. And people notices. This goes for real life stuff too, managers and big bosses acknowledges. Even if it's just healing a raid or being a healer... or a tank in a MMO. I'm never addicted, just fully dedicated. So what's the point here? Well... the point is, I wanna relax after work. Not get home and "work overtime" with pressure in a MMORPG, lol. It was fun, but I need a little change. I'm sure my guild won't miss me. I was annoying anyway. I was that person who try to give knowledgeable and logical suggestions and strategies that nobody wants to listen to because he's just the "new guy".

Anyways, personal things. Working on something big... future. Etc.? Hopefully everything works out. Gonna be moving soon too. Looking for a bachelor or 1 bedroom apartment. New plans for success for an awesome future!

(Corny!)

I'm out!

Rift Action

So quick update. Lots of Rift action happening during the week. I actually decided to raid which started 2 weeks ago(?) I forget. Doing Greenscale Blight and River of Souls.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c367/YamiLuceid/gamescreens/rift/2011-08-01_100945.jpghttp://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c367/YamiLuceid/gamescreens/rift/2011-08-08_090557.jpg

Still in a progressing guild. Got Lord Greenscale down to 24%. But that's where the hard part begins. Anyways, this is just a quick little update.

If interested, my twitter is @yamiluceid Follow yamiLuceid on Twitter. I may post updates there more frequently about random boring things I do. Which includes RIFT and Monster Hunter, etc.? Whatever!

Out for now!

RIFT = Fun

So I haven't posted in months here. Not like anyone reads this anyway. My PC is awesome. Getting quite dusty now. I was gonna buy pressurized air canister then I reminded myself that I once found a $60 powered duster at Tigerdirect. So why not spend more and save in the long run? Yep, did that. I got it and it's super awesome. Super strong and super loud, like a vaccuum.

Anyways, I've been playing RIFT the past few months. Shortly after I assembled my PC. It's fun. Gonna be raiding soon.

Hopefully I can update this more often. Outie for now!

PC Status: UP and Stable

Motherboard delivered @ around 12:20PM while I was napping and as soon as I got it, I went to town with it! First PC ever built, hooked up everything, fired it up... ALL IS GOOD!

Work time, I'll update next post and mention all the parts.

Disappointment!

Update on the new PC.

So I've received 8/9 of the parts that I've ordered from newegg.ca. 3 separate deliveries, 3 separate locations. Got the first package containing the case and PSU, CPU and OS on Monday. Second package came in Tuesday containing GPU, HDD, RAM and free Shogun 2 game. Now I'm just missing the motherboard which is the most important part, because it's where everything is connected. It's like the body of the PC. It would've been awesome if the last part was like the OS or the ram, I mean... it could've been ANYTHING. ANYTHING AT ALL! But NO! It has to be the motherboard. So, it seems it's not coming at all until Monday. Yeah, that blows.

I was really hoping I could assemble it during my day off. But no. If it was like the PSU or whatever... except the case, I could've assembled some of them and just attached the missing part on Monday. Unfortunately, things just doesn't go the way you want them to be. I have to amuse myself with some other form of entertainment during this weekend. Friday is a holiday but I'm most likely working anyway.

I can't really gather all my thoughts because of how bummed out I feel right now. It sucks, but ya know. Just life. I'm thinking though, since I've waited THIS freakin long for all the parts. I am hoping that there will be no more disappointments once it gets here and everything turns out well. I don't know what I just typed right there but whatever, I hope it made sense. I need sleep.

I'll update again... soon. Hopefully something good.

Brand New PC! - First Custom Build PC

Just ordered PC parts to build myself a powerhouse a couple of days ago. Was just shipped this morning. I'm so excited! Never built a PC before but I've always wanted to. I hope everything turns out good. And nothing is DOA (dead on arival) because that would suck bad! And very frustrating!

I'll list my hardware when they all get here. Its not an over the top PC but definitely pretty good. Cost me a little less than $1200. My budget was $1000 and I reached it. Except when the taxes and shipping kicked in... BAM!

One thing to list, CPU is i7 2600K, and... might as well list the GPU: Sapphire Radeon 6870. I didn't get a SLI ready motherboard because I don't need to SLI. In the future, I'll just get another single GPU for upgrade... which hopefully won't be too soon. Hoping this lasts 2-5 years!

I'm out!!! ZzzzzZZZZzzz...

Laptop Reformat — Just like new...

"We owe you for that."
"Just like new..."
"Drop your weapon!"

Matrix... yeah anyway. Reformatted my HP Laptop and brought it back to factory settings. Had to delete crap from it again like before. That's also the last time I'm buying HP Laptop. I'll go Asus next time. Only reason I bought that is because I didn't have money to pay it in full so I used Best Buy X months to pay thinger-majigger.

If it's a laptop, Asus from Newegg, Tigerdirect, or NCIX. But I really want a power house custom PC for my next one. This laptop can play good games but the problem is overheating. Sucks.

Reason for reformatting is... I don't know. Paranoid that something is in my PC lurking around? I also bought Sandboxie to keep it clean. Hopefully I won't need to reformat for a few years.

Resetting Sleep Cycle -- Nifty

Stumbled upon an article. I could definitely use this.
http://parentingsquad.com/easy-way-to-reset-your-sleep-cycle-stop-eating

Easy way to reset your sleep cycle: Stop eating

by Will Chen

Not eating for 12-16 hours can help people quickly reset their sleep-wake cycle, according to a new study from the Harvard Medical School. This discovery can drastically improve a person's ability to cope with jet lag or adjust to working late shifts.

Scientists have long known that our circadian rhythm is regulated by our exposure to light. Now they have found a second "food clock" that takes over when we are hungry. This mechanism probably evolved to make sure starving mammals don't go to sleep when they should be foraging for food.

The lead researcher Clifford Saper explains:

The neat thing about this second clock is that it can override the main clock ... and you should just flip into that new time zone in one day.

It usually takes people a week to fully adjust to a new time zone or sleeping schedule. To think that this new "food clock" hack can help you change your internal clock in one day is mind boggling.

How does it work?

Simply stop eating during the 12-16 hour period before you want to be awake. Once you start eating again, your internal clock will be reset as though it is the start of a new day. Your body will consider the time you break your fast as your new "morning."

For example, if you want to start waking up at 2:00 am, you should start fasting between 10:00 am or 2:00 pm the previous day, and don't break your fast until you wake up at 2:00 am. Make sure you eat a nice healthy meal to jumpstart your system.

Another example: If you are travelling from Los Angeles to Tokyo, figure out when breakfast is served in Tokyo, and don't eat for the 12-16 hours before Tokyo's breakfast time.

Why does this work?

Like everything else in our evolutionary history, it has to do with survival:

"For a small mammal, finding food on a daily basis is a critical mission. Even a few days of starvation, a common threat in natural environments, may result in death," the study said.

"Hence, it is adaptive for animals to have a secondary "master clock" that can allow the animal to switch its behavioral patterns rapidly after a period of starvation to maximize the opportunity of finding food sources at the same time on following days."

The shift is a survival mechanism in small mammals that forces them to change their sleeping patterns, Fuller suggests. One starvation cycle is enough to override the traditional light-based circadian clock, the study suggests.

"This new timepiece enables animals to switch their sleep and wake schedules in order to maximize their opportunity of finding food."

"A period of fasting with no food at all for about 16 hours is enough to engage this new clock," says Saper.

"So, in this case, simply avoiding any food on the plane, and then eating as soon as you land, should help you to adjust — and avoid some of the uncomfortable feelings of jet lag." CBC (quoting study published in the May 22 issue of Science.

Starcraft II - Inactivity

So I haven't logged on SC2 in forever. I ran the game and there was like 5+ updates. Then after logging in, Last login December 5, 2010. Hah!

I haven't played with my SC2 buddy too in a long time. I probably suck now, not that I was good in the first place. My work shift suck!
